The Deliverables section of the Main Menu allows users access to the following functions:
- All Deliverables
- Fundraising
- Mass Mailings
- Other Deliverables
- Phone Banks
- Press Releases
- Signs
- Thank You
- Walk-Canvassing
Essentially, the function allows the campaign to manage and track the flow of communications. Individuals, from one to thousands, can be added to the queue for a 'deliverable.' Then when the deliverable is delivered, the queue can be processed.
- Jane Doe wants a campaign sign. Add her to a Signs deliverable queue. Then when a volunteer drops one off, or she comes by and picks one up, process her within the deliverable and add her to the list of everyone to whom a sign was delivered.
- John Smith offered to send a campaign check. Add him to the queue for a Fundraising deliverable, a special letter the campaign wrote to say "Thank you for your offer, here is the address to send the check.". Use webElect to format and print the letter, then mail it. Once the letter is sent, process him - adding his name to the list of everyone to whom this kind of letter was sent. Then, when his check arrives, add him to the queue for a Thank you deliverable, a thank you letter. When his letter is printed and mailed, he can be processed again adding him to the list of contributors who have received thank you letters.
- The campaign has received the endorsement of an important group, and wants to send a press release. The campaign staffer drafts the press release within webElect, saving it as a Press Release deliverable. The staffer then uses the Group Management function, selecting the media contact group he or she wants to receive the release, and clicks Output on that screen. Under Add to Deliverable the staffer selects the new press release and hits Run Report -- this adds those contacts to the queue for the new press release. Once the release has been approved by the candidate for distribution, the staffer goes back to the Press Release deliverable and selects the Queue for the new release, showing all of the contacts who have not yet received the release. The staffer marks those who should get it, and selects Output which enables him or her to select whether to print letters or send emails.
These are just a few examples. The Deliverables function can be a powerful tool for a campaign to track its external relations, with enough flexibility to track any kind of communication.
